Reporting guidelines

How to report safely, fairly and accurately, and how every report is verified.

Do
  • Report only what you saw yourself, on the day.
  • Photograph spaces: roofs, desks, toilets, water points.
  • Say "not sure" rather than guess.
  • Ask the head teacher before taking photos inside.
  • Report again next term so progress shows.
Don't
  • Photograph children's faces or anyone using a toilet.
  • Name or blame individual teachers or pupils.
  • Enter a school without permission or during exams.
  • Submit reports for a school you haven't visited.
  • Share someone else's report as your own.
